Recently, a construction worker who was working at a site near Lindbergh Field in San Diego died while on the job. According to reports, a falling piece of rebar hit the man while he and the other members of his construction crew were working on a rental car facility near the airport at the intersection of West Washington and Pacific Highway. Medics arrived at the scene quickly and did their best to help the man, but he passed away at the scene of the accident.

Cal/OSHA was investigating the accident, and said that the 29-year-old man was wearing the required fall protection gear. He was up on a column, between fifteen and eighteen feet up, and preparing for the concrete pour, which was routine for the crew. Still, a tragedy occurred, and it is as of yet unknown just what happened to cause the rebar to fall and hit the man. They halted construction until they can find the underlying cause of what actually happened. Cal/OSHA says that this is only one of the most recent in a number of construction accidents in California, and it is prompting them to look more closely at the construction sites around the state to make sure they are all utilizing proper safety protocols.

Accidents at construction sites are certainly not the only places where on the job injuries can occur though; they can happen at any worksite, even in a cubicle or while walking up or down the stairs.
